Prayer Band became the mainstay of this group of 23 and their identity as "The Inspirational Prayer
Group" evolved. Realizing that their entire group of saints comprised a minister, ushers, singers,
deacons and prayer warriors, they were led to hold a worship service on their own. On Sunday
September 5, 1993 at the Rowley Park Auditorium in Gardena, they held a complete worship service and
for the first time realized what God hand placed in their hands and what He had called them to do. Forty-
two men, women, & children assembled for this service.
With the assistance of Associate Minister Rev. Rafer Owens of Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church,
the group of assemblers were blessed to move their services to the Greater Faith sanctuary and
worshipped twice a month on Sunday afternoons for the next few months. Rev Albert McWilliams was
officiating minister.
On Saturday July 30, 1994, twenty-three adult members of the Inspirational Prayer Group met and voted
to organize officially as a body of Christian believers and Faith Inspirational came into existence.
From July 1994 through today, our growth has been nothing short or miraculous! From 7 prayer warriors
to 537 in just 7 short years not to be taken lightly.
In 1995, we began the search for a leader. Rev. Rafer Owens of Greater Faith was our close friend and
was already teaching our Thursday Night Bible Study regularly. The Lord laid this young man on our
hearts and in our minds and under the direction of the Holy Spirit, he was called to pastor Faith
Inspirational. Rafer accepted God's call in April of that year and was installed in May.
The focus of our church is "Saving Souls and Changing lives.
